This was an interesting read, certainly, but the premise appears to be that proprietary code is somehow safer. Your personal efforts demonstrate quite clearly the advantages of open source - that someone like you can see something and say something. The other advantage is that anyone can fork a repo and make the fixes themselves... sure, that's not a clean and simple solution, but it is *a* solution, and that's a something that's better than a nothing for sure!
