That’s an interesting point — I would argue then that we have now reached a point where technology has enabled us to return to decentralized labour, and it’s economically (as well as socially, psychologically and environmentally) better for us to migrate to working more independently. Personally, I’ve been an independent contractor for many years and I simply cannot see any of the traditional employment “benefits” as having greater value than my own autonomy.
