So it seems that politicization is a problem in both directions. I'm an ardent supporter of academic freedom, but with great power comes great responsibility, and we're entrusting these institutions with educating the next generation.

It would seem that western universities and colleges are failing their students when it comes to the basics of critical thinking and research. It honestly offends me that postmodernist learnings, such as the whats and hows of ideology, are only taught in specific streams and courses.

With the current explosion in ignorant, hateful rhetoric on campuses across the west, I think we should be protecting academic freedom but prohibiting political indoctrination. It's one thing to welcome diverse opinions, but quite another to endorse diverse "facts".
