I've read your article, and I don't agree with your assessments. I find your take on existing social media a bit naive, actually, as you seem to be of the opinion that the currently dominant social media platforms have some saving graces. I don't believe they have any.
I warmly recommend reviewing Dr Cory Doctorow's https://medium.com/@doctorow/tiktoks-enshittification-bb3f5df91979, where he describes the inevitability of social media becoming anti-social.
The advantage of Mastodon is that it's hosted by a collective of volunteers, and not a single corruptible business. As for its silos, if you boost a post from another server, it will be visible to others on your server. This method of amplification is quite natural, and in my opinion is an element that is painfully lacking on centralized platforms - I don't want to be bombarded by every hot take by anyone with a keyboard. I would much rather see content that's earned its way to my screen.
I've created two accounts and joined two communities of liked-minded people, one for my career and one for my passion. Two circles of people from a variety of backgrounds, and so far I've been consistently seeing things boosted from outside my little bubble, sending down interesting rabbit holes as a consequence. I certainly can't say the same for my Twitter experience!
