It's very interesting to hear this, because quite a few years ago I started coming across research (such as https://youtu.be/PY9DcIMGxMs) that suggests that addictions are not about personalities, but social situations. People who have good support networks, who feel supported by their friends and family, tend to be able to enjoy a drug once and then carry on with their lives. Considering the general darkness of these times, how tough it is for most people to find their place in the world and support themselves and their families and maintain healthy relationships, it makes sense to me that more of us than ever would be susceptible to any kind of addiction.
