As a zionist peacenik I simply cannot agree with some of your sentiments and terminology - there is no "occupation", though I'm vehemently against the settlers - but I am grateful that you've managed to so eloquently express your thoughts and emotions considering what we're all going through. I know our history, I've lived in Israel for many years, even served during wartime, and never have I experienced existential dread like this.

The flood of antisemitism worldwide, the vitriole spewed by people who claim to care about the Palestinians is terrifying, and that's on top of the terror and grief that we're all experiencing while our women and children and elderly are being held captive and our soldiers put their lives on the line trying to surgically remove Hamas while avoiding (as much as possible) harming innocents. Nothing about this situation is in any way sane, and nothing about the global support for Hamas is in any way helping anyone here.

If people really cared about the plight of the Palestinians, it would be nice if they could show it in a way that actually helps them, instead of supporting the Iranians' use of them as pawns in their tireless game of Exterminate the Jews.

If there's any silver lining in all this horror, it's that in Israel we seem to have agreed en masse that we cannot allow ourselves to return to the status quo, and it looks to me like Netanyahu and his cronies' political careers are pretty much over. It's my opinion that this is the first time in decades that there's a little bit of hope: that once this war is over, we might actually find ourselves in a position to start working on a practical path to peace.
