I'd just like to add here that Amazon as an example is a bit tricky, however, because they pride themselves on high employee turnover rather than retention. They want hungry applicants who are willing to make enormous sacrifices for the money, the prestige, and the experience of being a replaceable cog in a machine that operates at unimaginable scale.
My favorite quote about Amazon, and I think about it often, is: "Amazon is where overachievers go to feel bad about themselves". (Source)
Amazon will (probably) be fine. Its entrenched employees understand the game they're playing, that they're in constant competition with each other to keep their jobs, and that they'll do what they need to, migrate to where they need to, to keep running on the wheel.
