Amazon doesn’t price books at a loss, quite the opposite — their ebooks costs them nothing and most of their physical store sales (everything, not just books) are not actually Amazon, rather affiliate stores selling under the Amazon brand; in other words, most of Amazon’s sales are actually their competitors. Amazon is the biggest free-market enabler of our time, it’s one of the secrets of their success.
