2000AD, and Judge Dredd in particular, were hands-down my favorite comics growing up, so much so that my first tattoo was inspired by the story of Chopper (who I was pleased to see referenced on the graffitied walls of Peach Trees in the film).

While I was entertained by the original Stallone version of Dredd (I'm a huge fan of Mean Machine and the ABC Warriors), I was upset by Stallone constantly removing his helmet and deeply offended by the re-imagining of Rico's story that was so at odds with the emotional original print reunification.

Dredd, the 2012 movie, was a masterpiece. It perfectly captured the aesthetic, it perfectly captured the setting, it perfectly captured Dredd's personality - I like to think of him as "on the spectrum" - and it perfectly captured the essential combination of action and intelligence on display throughout the comics.

She's a pass.
